Consultation

Consultation 1 "Stays abroad during training"

As member of the Vocational Education and Training without Borders network, we advise companies, trainees and young skilled workers on the possibilities of spending time abroad during and after their training.

According to the German Vocational Training Act (§ 2, paragraph 3), all trainees can spend part of their training abroad. This requires the approval of the company and the vocational school. According to the German Vocational Training Act, up to a quarter of the regular training period can be spent abroad. For a three-year training programme, this is nine months. This time can be utilised in a block or in individual sections.

Internships abroad are generally possible in any country in the world. However, the decision in favour of a country often depends on the learning content or the funding available. There are a variety of funding programmes that cover most or all of the costs. You can find more information here.
